- 1 3/4 cups flour, sifted
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups water, warm
- TO ADD TO STARTER AFTER USE
- 1 1/2 cups water, warm
- 3/4 cup flour, unsifted
- 2 teaspoons sugar
How To Make sour dough bread starter

Step 1In a large mixer bowl, combine all dry ingredients, add water and beat until thoroughly blended

Step 2Put the mixture in a gallon size zip lock bag and let sit at room temperature four days, shaking thoroughly each day. Transfer to a qt size jar and refrigerate. Shake the mixture daily accept the day you are going to use it.

Step 3Use at least once a week, add the additional ingredients after each use and mix well with a mixer and put back into a clean jar.
