This is my Dad's ice cream recipe minus the raw eggs that we used to put in it.

Ingredients For ice cream

  • 2 c
    whole milk
  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 can
    evaporated milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 qt
    whipping cream
  • rock salt
  • 20 lbs of ice
  • BANANA ICE CREAM
  • 4 md
    bananas, mashed
  • STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM
  • 3 c
    strawberries, fresh, mashed

How To Make ice cream

    Note:If all the ingredients are cold, the ice cream will freeze faster, so put the evaporated milk in the refrigerator. Next, warm the milk and add the sugar and salt, stir to dissolve, refrigerate.

    In a gallon ice cream freezer, add the milk mixture, evaporated milk and vanilla. At this time, add the fruit if you are using it. Place the paddle in the ice cream freezer, add the whipping cream until the mixture comes to the top of the paddle, if it does not, add more whole milk, place lid on ice cream freezer.

    To freeze-follow the manufacturer's instructions or place the freezer with the motor attached to it in the freezer bucket- make sure it is fastened to the bucket correctly. Alternating layers of ice then rock salt- until it reaches the top of the ice cream freezer. Add about 2 cups of water. Plug in-continue to watch and add ice and rock salt and a little water until the freezer stops(this is what my ice cream machine says to do)
