Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening (part margarine or butter)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

How To Make snickerdoodle cookies

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 400. Mix shortening, 11/2 cups sugar and eggs thoroughly. blend flour, cream of tarter, soda and salt: stir in.
  • Step 2
    Shape dough in 1" balls. Roll mixture in 2 tbs sugar and cinnamon. Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
  • Step 3
    Bake 8 to 10 minuets. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out.
