I used to make this chili so Matthew would eat it and that was to use pork n beans, but now I use regular beans and that depends what I have on hand. It could be a red bean, pintos, kidney, or navy beans. This is a good chili that you can use as a base and add heat, etc. to it.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 quart tomatoes, run through a blender
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 cans beans, pinto or red, your choice
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

How To Make chili

  • Step 1
    Brown ground beef in a 3 qt pot, drain excess grease, add onion, cook a little more. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beans. Stir.
  • Step 2
    Add chili powder(if you want it spicier, add more chili powder), salt, cumin, paprika and sugar, stir. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally for about 30 - 45 minutes.
