My Mom and Grandma did not have an apple pie recipe, they just threw it together. So, here is mine. I have made this pie since the early 70's. There is nothing better than a homemade apple pie.

Ingredients For apple pie

  • 8 c
    apples, tart
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp

  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 dash
    salt
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter

How To Make apple pie

  • 1
Roll out both of your pie crusts to about a 12" circle. Place one in a deep dish pie pan. Lay aside the other one.
  • 2
Peel, core and slice your apples to equal 8 cups. Mix together the sugar, flour, and spices.
  • 3
Put about 1/2 of the apples in the pie shell, add about 1/2 of the sugar mixture, the other half of apples and then the remaining sugar mixture. Cut the butter up and place on top. Cover with remaining pie crust, crimp the edges and cut off remaining pieces of crust. Cut slits in the top crust and then sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 375 for about 60 minutes until lightly golden brown.
