To balance the tart, bright flavor of cranberries, bake them with sweet, buttery pears and dried fruit. An easy oatmeal crumble puts the finishing touch on this melt-in-your-mouth compote that’s scrumptious served as a sauce or side.

Fruit Compote
•
2 cups fresh cranberries
•
2 medium pears, peeled, cored and chopped
•
1 cup prunes, dried apricots, raisins or a combination, roughly chopped
•
1/2 cup sugar
•
Spiced Topping
•
1 cup oats (not instant)
•
1/4 cup brown sugar
•
2 tablespoons flour
•
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
•
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
•
3 tablespoons butter, melted
•
INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 325°F. In a 2-quart baking dish, combine cranberries, pears, dried fruit

and sugar.In a medium bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and
•
melted butter. Sprinkle mixture over fruit.Bake 1 hour until lightly browned and bubbly.

Serve warm or at room temperature.

Make-Ahead Tip: To prepare up to 2 days in advance, assemble the fruit compote without the topping. Bake as normal, then let cool completely, cover and refrigerate. Add topping before reheating at 350°F until bubbly and warm, about 20 minutes.
