This is another family favorite. If you like sour cream, you can put a dollop on top of your stroganoff.

Ingredients For hamburger stroganoff

  • 1 lb
    ground beef, 85% lean or more
  • 1 can
    cream of chicken soup, fat-free
  • 1 pkg
    onion soup mix, dry
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 c
    milk
  • RICE
  • 2 c
    rice
  • 4 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How To Make hamburger stroganoff

    Brown the hamburger and crumble in a 1 1/2 qt saucepan with lid (do not cover), drain fat from beef, keeping the browned remains in the pan, do not clean.

    Add the flour, onion soup mix, and the drained beef back into the pan, stir. Add cream of chicken soup in the pan, stir. Add the water, and milk, stir. Cover and simmer while making the rice. Stirring occasionally.

    In another sauce pan, add water and salt, bring to boil. Add the rice, stir, cover, simmer until done. ( Follow the instructions on the rice, you may need less water)

    To serve, place a layer of rice on a plate, ladle the beef mixture over top. Serve with a nice salad or vegetable.
