This is my Mom's recipe. She always made divinity for Christmas.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 dash salt
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • - chopped nuts
  • OTHER DIVINITY IDEAS
  • - peppermint extract
  • - crushed peppermint candies

How To Make divinity

  • Step 1
    Stir sugar, water, corn syrup and salt in a 2 qt pan. Bring to a boil and cook to 240 with a candy thermometer.
  • Step 2
    While mixture is cooking, beat the egg whites in a mixing bowl until stiff. While mixing add the corn syrup, beating constantly until it holds its shape. Add vanilla and nuts. Drop on greased cookie sheet by Tablespoon or use a cookie scoop.
  • Step 3
    You can also use the peppermint flavoring and sprinkle divinity with crushed peppermint candies. Or color the divinity red and green.
