red velvet cake frosting
This is the original Waldorf Red Velvet Cake Frosting recipe. It is one of my Mom's recipes(I have adapted this to cook in the microwave) and one of my favorites... it is very light and airy. You should try this instead of using cream cheese frosting, which bakeries put on everything now.

- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
How To Make red velvet cake frosting
-
Step 1In a microwave safe 2 qt bowl, mix the flour with 1/4 cup of milk, whisk until smooth. Heat the rest of the milk in the microwave-about 1 minute, then whisk the remaining warm milk with the flour mixture until smooth. Microwave the mixture for 2 minutes, stirring after each 30 seconds. Cover and let cool.
-
Step 2In a mixer bowl, beat the remaining ingredients together until very fluffy, add the cooled mixture and beat until you can no longer taste the sugar granules, (it will have melted into the mixture) This takes about 5-10 minutes. Frost cake.
