Ingredients

  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 4
    eggs (separated)
  • 3 1/4 c
    flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts
  • 1 c
    raisins
  • 3
    sweet potatoes (cooked & mashed)
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil

How to Make Sweet Potato Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream sugar, oil and egg yolks together. Mix dry ingredients together and add alternately with water. Mix in chopped nuts, raisins, potatoes and vanilla. Fold in beaten egg whites.

    Fill pans 3/4 full and bake for 1 hour at 350.
    Makes 2 full loaves.
