I love a good bold cup of coffee after dinner; and I also love a "lil' sweet" to finish the meal off. This quick and simple after-dinner drink/dessert is "right up my alley" as it combines them both! I sometimes like to add a little Amaretto, Kahlua, or Bailey's Irish Cream for a lil' kick of additional flavor. You can top it with a little whipped cream too if you like (I'm not big on whipped cream, so I leave it off). *I've added 2 pictures, but the featured picture isn't mine.

Ingredients For affogato

  • 1
    (or 2) scoop vanilla ice cream or gelato
  • 1
    shot of fresh brewed espresso -or- strong coffee
  • 1 Tbsp
    amaretto or liqueur of choice, optional
  • whipped cream, optional

How To Make affogato

  • 1
    In a small glass or dessert dish, add one scoop of ice cream. Pour the shot of espresso over the top of the ice cream, and then the amaretto (if using). Serve immediately.

    VARIATIONS Substitute chocolate or coffee ice cream for the vanilla.
