I got this recipe from my friend Joan several yrs ago. I have made this many times using cookie stamps and adding jam to the centers before cooking. I usually double the recipe and use a full 8 oz pkg of cream cheese and adding more flour as I roll them out to the right consistency.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1 c
    butter, softened-no margarine
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3 oz
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1
    egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • ·
    colored sugar or decorating icing, if desired

How to Make Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine all ingredients except flour. Beat until light and fluffy. Add flour, mixing well. Shape into 3 disks. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  2. Heat oven to 375. Roll out dough to 1/8" thickness, cut with lightly floured cutter or stamp. Lay 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake at 375 for 6-10 min. or light golden brown.
  4. Immediately remove from cookie sheets to wire racks.
  5. If desired, frost and decorate when cool.
