Ingredients

  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 2/3 c
    soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c
    grated onion
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1 can(s)
    condensed beef consomme

How to Make Potluck Meatballs

Step-by-Step

  1. In a bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients; add beef and mix well.
  2. Shape into 1 1/4-inch balls.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown meatballs; drain.
  4. Transfer to a greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
  5. Combine the cornstarch and the consomme until smooth; add to skillet.
  6. Bring to a boil, stirring to loosen browned bits from pan.
  7. Boil for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  8. Pour over the meatballs.
  9. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until no longer pink.
