Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 oz
semisweet chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour

How to Make Chocolate Shortbread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 300 F. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan
  2. Beat together butter and sugar until light and creamy. Beat in vanilla and melted chocolate
  3. Stir in flour, gently mixing until blended
  4. Spread in prepared baking pan
  5. Bake for 40 - 45 minutes until the center is firm
  6. Cool in pan
  7. These are kind of rich, so I cut them into small bars, about 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches, so this recipe makes about 3 dozen bars.
  8. Remove carefully with spatula
