Have been making these since in the 50s when I found this recipes in an old church cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 & 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 & 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda

How to Make Sour Cream Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream shortening, eggs and sugar until well blended.
  2. Stir in sour cream and vanilla.
  3. Add flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  4. Chill dough a few hours. Drop by tablespoon onto cookied sheet.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. The cookies will be just starting to turn tan. Let them cool a few minutes on the cookie sheet and then put them on racks to finish cooling.
  6. These keep well in a covered container. Will be a soft type cookie.
