Ingredients

  • ·
    2 squares unsweetened chocolate or 2 envelopes no melt unsweetened chocolate
  • ·
    1 cup soft margarine
  • ·
    1 tsp. vanilla
  • ·
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • ·
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg or mace
  • ·
    1 1/2 cups sugar
  • ·
    5 eggs
  • ·
    2 cups sifted flour
  • ·
    1 tsp. baking powder
  • ·
    1/2 tsp. salt
  • ·
    1/4 cup orange juice
  • ·
    1/4 cup minced nuts
  • ·
    grated rind of 1 orange

How to Make Spicy Fudge Poundcake

Step-by-Step

  1. If chocolate squares are used, melt and cool. Cream next 4 ingredients til light and fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each. Blend in chocolate. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with orange juice, mixing til smooth. Fold in nuts and orange rind. Pour into 9 x 5 inch loaf pan lined with waxed paper. Bake at 300 for 1 hour and 45 minutes or til done. Let stand 5 minutes, then turn out of pan on rack to cool.
