My daughter loves sweet and sour meatballs and looks forward to her grandmother making this recipe every year as an appetizer during the holidays.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground beef/turkey
  • 1 c
    soft bread crumbs
  • 1 large
    egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced onions
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 dash(es)
    pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 2/3 c
    heinz chili sauce
  • 2/3 c
    red current jelly

How to Make Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine the first 8 ingredients. Form into 40 bite-size meatballs using a a full teaspoon of meat for each meatball. Brown meatballs lightly in vegetable oil. cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Drain excess fat. Combine chile sauce and jelly. Pour over meatballs. Heat and stir occasionally, until jelly is melted. Continue to simmer for another 10 to 12 minutes or until sauce thickens. Serve warm.
