I don't remember where I found this recipe. It is my 16 year old son's favorites! The are chewy and delicious. And we love the simple name..

  • 3/4 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 4 Tbsp
    molasses
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 c
    flour
  • pinch
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    ginger
  • 1 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon

How to Make Brown Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream together shortening and sugars. Add the rest of the ingredients. Roll in balls, dip in sugar and bake in 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
