Ingredients For anise biscotti

  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 4
    eggs
  • 4 1/2 c c
    all purpose flour ( i use 1/2 white 1/2 whole wheat)
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/3 c
    brandy (anise brandy will give it an anise punch)
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    anise extract
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp
    anise or fennel seeds

How To Make anise biscotti

    Preheat oven to 350 F
  • 2
    Beat sugar butter and oil until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.

    Combine brandy, anise and vanilla in a cup. Combine flour and baking powder in a bowl. Alternate adding the dry and wet ingredients to the butter mixture. Stir until just mixed. Add anise seed and stir until blended.

    Form dough into two flattened half round logs about 2"x 12" and bake at 350F for about 30 minutes until slightly browned and firm. Let cool completely.

    Cut logs on the diagonal into strips about 3/4" wide. Bake strips at 300F for 10 minutes. Turn strips over and bake for another 10 minutes until dry and slightly browned.
