My Dad passed away from cancer when I was 12. About 2 years ago, my Mom found all her old recipes and I went through them all. I found this recipe in my Dad's own handwriting. Last Christmas I made them for my family and also people at work. Everybody just loved them. Here's to you Dad!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 1/3 c
    molasses
  • 1 c
    nuts, chopped (any kind)

How to Make Dad's Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream butter w/sugar and beat in egg
  2. Mix flour, baking soda and salt
  3. Add molasses, chopped nuts, and flour mixture to wet ingredients (butter, sugar, egg)
  4. Mix well and drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet
  5. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes
