Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 3
    granny smith apples
  • 3
    gala apples
  • 1 pkg
    pre made pie crust (2 rounds)
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon

How to Make Iron Skillet Apple Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Place butter in 9 inch cast iron skillet and put in oven while preheating to 350 degrees. As soon as butter melts stir in the brown sugar and return to the oven until the sugar has melted.
  2. Peel, core and slice the apples into a bowl and sprinkle granulated sugar and cinnamon over top. Toss to coat.
  3. Place one of the pie crusts on top of the butter and brown sugar in the skillet, fitting it up the sides if necessary. Pour the apples in and top with the second crust. Pierce the top crust and return to the oven for 40 minutes or until top is golden brown. Serve warm with good vanilla ice cream.
