This is a great holiday ham recipe. Some of the best-tasting ham we've ever eaten. The homemade honey glaze gets deep inside the diamond-shaped slits. After it bakes, the glaze creates this beautiful and flavorful crust. An impressive addition to your holiday table. No one will ever believe how easy it was to create such a marvelous masterpiece.

Ingredients For honey baked ham

  • 10-12 lb
    uncooked shank portion ham
  • 3 Tbsp
    Dijon mustard
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
  • 1 tsp

How To Make honey baked ham

  • Skin and fat removed from the ham.
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Remove the skin and most of the excess fat. Leave a layer of fat, though, to render while the ham bakes.
  • Scoring the ham.
    Score ham in a diamond pattern. This looks nice but also allows the fat to render while cooking.
  • Ham in a roasting pan.
    Place scored ham in a roasting pan.
  • Ham baking in the oven.
    Bake for 20 minutes per pound until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F.
  • Mustard, brown sugar, honey, and cinnamon in a bowl.
    While the ham is baking, make the glaze. Mix remaining ingredients together.
  • Spreading glaze onto the ham.
    During the last 45 minutes of cooking time, spread the glaze over the ham.
  • Letting the ham rest.
    Remove ham from the oven and let rest.
  • Slices of Honey Baked Ham on a plate.
    Slice into thin slices.
