My Mom made this for us when I was growing up..It has a great taste and I love it. It came from her Mom when we lived in Louisiana.

Ingredients

  • 2
    chicken, any piece if you want..i use boneless chicken breasts
  • 2
    green peppers, chopped
  • 1
    white onion
  • 3
    garlic pods
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 3 Tbsp
    salt
  • ·
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 jar(s)
    roux
  • 1 bottle
    gumbo file'

How to Make Chicken Gumbo

Step-by-Step

  1. Boil and debone chicken if need to. Add roux to chicken water. Add green peppers, onion, seasonings and gumbo file'. Add chicken. Serve over rice with garlic bread.
