My Family and Friends loves this cake and everytimes they come to visit they look foward to it. This cake makes a richly flavored cake, excellent in itself. And I often uses the batter as a basis for a range of other kinds of cakes. I suggests adding flavorings, such as 1/2cup mini-chocolate chips, 1 cup coconut flakes,or 1/2cup of fruit jam. You can also make a chocolate cake by adding 1/2cup cocoa. Reduce flour by 1/2 cup if you do.
