Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 2/3 c
    water
  • 2/3 c
    quick cooking hominy grits
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 6 oz
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper

How to Make Baked Cheese Grits

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  3. Add salt to water.
  4. Bring to a full, rolling boil.
  5. Add grits; return to boiling point.
  6. Cook, stirring constantly, until very thick, about 6 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Add fat.
  9. Mix cheese, eggs and pepper.
  10. Stir into grits.
  11. Pour into baking dish.
  12. Bake 40 minutes or until lightly browned.
