3 / 4 lbbeef pot roast

2 Tbspshortening

1 lbcan tomatoes, cut up

1/4 cwine vinegar

1/4 cwater

1 clovegarlic, minced

1 tspsalt

1/2 tspmixed pickling spices

1/4 tsppepper

1 tuberefrigerated biscuits ( 10 biscuits )

1 Tbspsnipped parsley
How To Make beef with dumplings

1Trim excess fat from roast. In Dutch oven or large skillet, slowly brown meat on all sides in hot shortening

2Add next 8 ingredients. Cover; cook slowly 2 to 2 1/2 hours or till meat is tender.

3Place biscuits on meat, sprinkle with parsley. Cover tightly and steam for 15 minutes, or till "dumplings" are done.

4Remove meat and dumplings to a warm platter. Serve with gravy, if desired.
