Ingredients For beef with dumplings

  • 3 / 4 lb
    beef pot roast
  • 2 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 1 lb
    can tomatoes, cut up
  • 1/4 c
    wine vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    mixed pickling spices
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 tube
    refrigerated biscuits ( 10 biscuits )
  • 1 Tbsp
    snipped parsley

How To Make beef with dumplings

  • 1
    Trim excess fat from roast. In Dutch oven or large skillet, slowly brown meat on all sides in hot shortening

    Add next 8 ingredients. Cover; cook slowly 2 to 2 1/2 hours or till meat is tender.

    Place biscuits on meat, sprinkle with parsley. Cover tightly and steam for 15 minutes, or till "dumplings" are done.

    Remove meat and dumplings to a warm platter. Serve with gravy, if desired.
