Ingredients For tailgate apple cake

3 ccooking apples, peeled and sliced

1 1/2 cvegetable oil

2 csugar
-
3eggs
-
2 Tbspvanilla extract

3 cpre-sifted flour

1 tspsalt

1 tspbaking soda
-
3 tspcinnamon, ground
-
1 cpecans or walnuts chopped (reserve some for decoration)
- TOPPING:

1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

6 Tbspbutter

1/4 cevaporated milk
How To Make tailgate apple cake

1Preheat over to 325 degrees. Grease a 9" x 13" glass baking dish or pan. Prepare apples and set aside.

2Blend the oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract; add the flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Mix well; stir in the apples and nuts. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 45- 55 minutes - until done.

3Topping: Combine brown sugar, butter and milk in a small saucepan; bring to a boil and pour immediately over the baked hot cake. The icing will partially be absorbed into the cake leaving a caramel topping. Trim with reserved nuts. Do not cut for at least 1 hour. Yields 20 squares. Note: If canned apples are used, use 1 1/2 cans of unsweetened pie apples. Drain apples and pat with paper towels.
