This is one of my son's--who is very picky even at age 21!--favorite snacks. I use any kind of apple I happen to have but we prefer macintosh or haralson.

1 cbutter, room temperature

1/2 cbrown sugar

2 1/2 cflour

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1 cchopped apples

1 cbuttermilk
- TOPPING

How To Make roman apple cake

1Grease 9 X 13 pan. Preheat oven to 325.

2Cream together butter and sugars. Add remaining ingredients. Sprinkle topping over batter. (Stick a toothpick or tester down into top in several places so it won't just form a crust and not bake through.)

3Bake 35-40 minutes.
