1 1/2 cbuttermilk

add enough water to make the batter soupy...once batter is mixed let sit and do not stir.

1Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Add 1 heaping tablespoon of shortening to cast iron skillet and place in oven until very hot.

2Without stirring cornbread batter, pour into hot skillet and bake until golden brown.
