2nd batch: I made two batches of the Sticky Buns, and they are delicious! My family loves these and can't stop eating them up..also, this is going to be a keeper recipe, and will be making them a lot! Ty for sharing Anna! (8.25.12)
1st batch(of 2): My fam loves them...excellent! BTW, forgot to add raisins/walnuts to dish BEFORE raising the frozen rolls, so I put them on top of the baked Buns, still delish! A Keeper..Ty Anna! 8.25.12 (see next pic-2nd batch)
Sorry, regarding above comment, fourth paragraph, I meant to say, Butterscotch pudding, not Caramel..regarding Kim Biegacki's delicious Butterscotch pudding recipe..sorry!
I think that is so nice that you are going to sew a purse for each one of your two daughters. I love to sew..I have been sewing since I was about 6 years old..my grandmother, who loved to sew also, she use to make me sew many of my own clothing..mostly shirts, dresses, and slacks. She use to brag that this is a great skill to learn, since if times get financially difficult, you can always be glad to have a sewing skill, and make your own clothing..lol. She is right, and I am so proud she taught me..when I got older, sometimes I would make wedding gowns, brides maid dresses, and beautiful work suits (men and women)..also made bathing suits. I worked at two jobs that required good sewing skills, one job was located in Johnstown, Penna., it was called, Bestform. It was one of the main 'Bestform' factories..they specialized in sewing bathing suits and pajama's and women's under ware. I ran a commercialized sewing machine, which are made out of solid steel and can be dangerous, since they go extremely fast, and if we are not careful, our hands can either get the needle ran over, or the wheel of the machine could cut off hands or wrists..so we had to always remember to keep our left hand on our laps while our right hand operated to get the machine running (carefully). The other sewing job was working in the 'French Room' at our local Stone and Thomas store..it was an elegant and very expensive shop where we sized, patterned, cut out selected materials, and sew up wedding gowns and bride maid gowns for weddings. We also made the wedding veils..I loved this job, since it taught me so much, and was an added educational experience for my years of sewing. I also love to hand knit sweaters too. I began taking knitting classes, and could not stop after my first class..they are creative and very fun, but the sweaters take a very long time to complete.
You also sound like you are a very busy person, but you also must have a lot of energy..such a blessing! I try to exercise, because this gives me energy too, and I need the extra boost of energy, especially since I have hythyrodism (inherited in my family). I just simply take a pill every day for it, but it is not enough, maybe because it is a synthetic pill giving me the metabolism needed for every day living, but, that is why I need to exercise every day to get more energy. I feel much more better exercising only for the needed energy, than I do for the way it firms me up.
You requested where I use to live in Pennsylvania...after my husband and myself were married in 1979, we moved from WVa to Somerset county...it was a very small town called Windber (located beside Johnstown or Bedford). At first we lived in Somerset Penna, where both my sons were born, and then we relocated to Windber, Penna. Both towns are located in Somerset county.
We lived in Windber for about 15 or more years before we moved to Florida. Our sons grew up in Windber and really missed having to leave all their friends..I felt so sorry for them, but my husband had been transferred to Florida due to his job reasons.
Also, I don't remember mentioning about putting salt over the Butterscotch regarding Sticky Buns recipe, but I do remember making Kim B's Caramel and salt pudding..wow, is that a delicious recipe! The salt on the homemade Caramel is absolutely delicious, just like old fashion salted Caramel..but I found out that I had to just sprinkle a tiny bit of salt, or else it would have been too salty tasting, and I usually love loads of salt. Here is Kim's Butterscotch pudding recipe link..also, I just noticed she has my picture of the Butterscotch pudding's that I made using my Temptations 8 ounce bake ware..I love Temptations bake ware! Here is her link..I highly recommend this too!
Thank you Anna for letting me know that it turned out to be false regarding the baby carrots! I did not read about it though, but so glad to know that it is safe to consume the baby carrots. I know you meant well, so don't feel bad, and I really appreciate it that you wrote a note about the negativity of consuming them, since it shows you care for everyone, and I appreciate it! But, I know that anything with chlorine can be very bad for us if we consume it, due to the chlorine little by little getting on our organs and causing them to eventually inflate, because the chlorine causes anything to suffocate..so the organs end up becoming inflamed. For example, if we get chlorine on our hands, try washing it off, since it will not come off our hands very easily once on..imagine our internal organs. I have heard that Splenda has chlorine..we use to be hugh fans of Splenda, but my husband, who used it on an every day basis, actually did get an inflated abdomen, and after seeing that, I quickly decided to stop purchasing Splenda, before it was too late, but he is much better now that we no longer use it. Presently, if I use any natural sweetener, it is either pure sugar cane or honey, but in moderation. But, so glad that it is false regarding baby carrots, since I recently purchased two 3 pound bags of them, due to planning on making another one of Kim's recipes called, 'Piccadilly's carrot souffle'. We go to our local Piccadilly restaurant, and love their famous carrot souffle, so have to make this recipe! Here is the link for that one too:
Hi Brenda, So good to hear from you again. I'm happy that you're interested in Rose Mary's book, I am really pleased with it and I hope you will be too.
I had so many things planned for today and didn't get very far. I wanna sew two purses, one for each of our two daughters for Mothers' Day, and didn't even get started. Oi yoi. Maybe tomorrow. I had several phone calls that took some time, then I cooked 3 times today, sprayed my rose bushes to retard the rabbits from eating them, and I don't know what else, but not what I needed to do. Now Dancing with the Stars is on and of course I have to watch.
Where in Pennsylvania did you tell me you used to live? I forgot. If I remember a little, it wasn't near this side of the state, but I'm not sure.
You talk about adding salt to the sticky buns?????? I've never tried that. What does it do to the carmel? I'm half afraid to try it.
Wow, there's trouble in the government -- Oh my gosh--!!! Then the trial of the abortion doctor in Phillie, and then that other trial of the girl that murdered her boyfriend. Holy cow!! What is this world coming to? Seems people don't know how to act anymore. I just put it all in Gods hands and am letting Him handle it because we don't seem to be able to get any truthful answers.
BTW--did you see the comment I posted today about the baby carrots? The other day someone posted a story about the carrots being sprayed with I think it was chlorine or something that would cause big problems for us if we eat them. Well-----I saw it on the news yesterday that that story was TOTALLY FALSE and that the carrots are SAFE to eat. Just wanted to let you know.
Well, I will talk to you again maybe tomorrow sometime, if I break away from the sewing machine for awhile. LOL LOL
Hi Anna..Thank you so much..I love conversing with you too Anna! Also, we will stay friends forever! I agree, we do share the same ideas, and I love this also.
Also, thank you so much for the information about Rose Mary's cookbook. I will be purchasing it, since it does sound very good, and I find it a rare treasure when others share their special recipes. Also, I love it that her cookbook has nearly 800 recipes, and have ordinary items too! I will take your word for the other Cook and Serve pudding mixes and stick to Butterscotch, since is one of my favorite flavors, and also I love the warm and buttery taste it gives the buns.
Thank you so much for all your information regarding the book and the Sticky Bun recipe!
Hi Brenda, You're welcome. The price of Rose Mary's cookbook is $26.99 with shipping included. It is certainly worth every penny. Her email address is rosemarycooks@yahoo.com and her phone # is 708-757-4076. This book is a compilation of hers, her family, and her friends recipes. Of all the recipes I've looked at in the book, they all have regular ordinary items in them, none of those hard to find ingredients at all. I highly recommend this book to you.
I used the vanilla flavor and also chocolate and also banana cream flavor of the Cook and Serve pudding mix in the sticky buns, and each time I say--uh uh. Nope, I'm going back to the butterscotch. But I know how it feels to want to go discovering the different flavors--maybe you'll like it.
I am enjoying conversing with you Brenda, you are a very special person. Seems I've discovered we share a lot of the same ideas and this I love. I surely hope we can stay friends forever. So nice are your notes!!
Thank you Anna for letting me know regarding Rose Mary's cookbook...I would love to have her email address, so I can write and ask her about it. If you don't mind my asking, how much did it cost or roughly? Yes, I agree, the sticky buns are addictive..lol! I love them especially when they first come out of the oven, so warm and delicious with butter melting over them..also, so far, we only have tried the butterscotch ones, since that flavor gives them such a delicate and buttery flavor. But, just like cinnamon rolls that have a vanilla flavor, I have thought many times of making them with vanilla just to see how they turn out..I would use pecans too. Thank you, nice hearing from you again! ♥♥
Brenda, Rose Mary's cookbook isn't through JAP, it's through HER. It has nearly 800 recipes in it. She has done a great job on it and it is certainly worth every penny. It has recipes from her and her family and friends. Some of the contents are listed on JAP but not nearly all. I can give you her name and phone number or email address if you are interested. Those sticky buns are so darned addictive, aren't they????? LOL LOL
Hi Anna! Yes, I think it would be wonderful being neighbors with you...and would also love helping cook for the neighbors (widows)! When we use to live in Pennsylvania, most of my neighbors were widows or widowers too. They were the most warm hearted and hospitable neighbors too..use to love sitting out on their front porches and talk with them, almost on an everyday basis. I will have to research Rose Mary Mogan's cookbook listed on JAP...is there a specific title on her cookbook, or is it her only one? Thank you for letting me know about it..her Cream Cheese & Sour Cream Pound Cake sounds delicious. Also, I will be making your sticky buns again too! I am going over to JAP site and check out her recipe book..thank you again! ♥♥
Awe Brenda, This is the 3rd time I'm typing an answer to your comment. I had two really long ones typed up almost ready to send and somehow they got lost. They just disappeared. Anyway----I'll try again.
You just made my night!!! Thank you so so much for the beautiful message you sent me. Yes I wish you were my neighbor--we'd have a blast cooking up a storm. We could make some good ole' comfort food casseroles and give it to the widowed ladies who live nearby or else we could share it with each other. Do you like soups? I make a mean vegetable soup. One of these days I'll post it on JAP but when I'm on there I forget about it. Duhhh!!! So why don't you move next door to me and we will get together??? Gotta make some of Rose Mary Mogan's recipes from her cookbook. Boy, she got some dandy's in it!! I made her Cream Cheese/Sour Cream Pound Cake and OMG I think it's absolutely the best cake I EVER ATE. Look it up, it's on JAP. I changed the extracts tho. I used 1 tsp. almond and 1 tsp cinnamon extract and I greased and sugared the pan, then just sprinkled it with powdered sugar. YUM YUM. It is sooooo good I can't tell you it's any different. Give it a try.
Just like Mr. Rodgers used to say--Won't you be my neighbor????? lol lol
Hi Anna, I understand..and no you did not slight me either..I understand and knew you were busy, but just wanted to let you know that we have been making them many more times since I've posted these pictures..they are a real staple in our household! I think that is so nice you are warm and welcoming to a new neighbor and would take over some home cooked sticky buns in order to welcome them..how I would LOVE having you as my next door neighbor! I always try to welcome my neighbors too..but never have gone the extreme to cook something for them, but usually give them a house warming gift (material item)..but cooking breads or especially sticky buns really means a lot due to the TLC (tender love and care) given the gift! I know you are too nice, so I knew you were busy...I just wanted to let you know that we love your sticky bun recipe! Love you too Anna! Wish you were my neighbor!♥♥
Oh Brenda you are so right, I DID NOT see your comment. I am so so happy you and your family are enjoying the Sticky Buns. Oh my gosh, I think I'm making them a couple times a week for this, that, or another occasion. I'm making 2 batches tonight to bake in the morning to take to my great grandson's 1st birthday party. When I heard about the party, I asked what I should bring--their answer "Oh Grammy, you know, we all love your sticky buns so just make those, please".
The other day, I took a batch over to a new neighbor. The woman wasn't home. Well, they stopped by yesterday to say hello, and she said when she got home her husband was eating the buns and she asked "Where did he get those (with great big eyes)? He told me, he didn't think I got to my door when he had a big ole' glass of milk and a sticky bun. I think everyone and their brother (LOL) loves these sticky buns.
I just got a cookbook from Rose Mary Mogal from JAP. She put it together herself. OMG it is fabulous !! There are almost 800 recipes in it. What a cook she is!! Wow! And a real sweetheart. It is worth every penny.
I am so happy you left me know about the recipe Brenda. I'm only sorry it took me this long and another posting for me to respond to you. Please accept my apology. I didn't mean to slight you in any way.
