This is the meal that we ate with the biscuits. The biscuit is at the back of the plate. We didn't care for the biscuits; but with the gravy on top they were good.
I bought a brand new sour cream today so it was fresh. I bought a box of Bisquick as that's what the recipe called for. Brand new 7-UP. Put the butter in the 9X9 pan and melted it in the oven. 10/27/12
Hey, Rose - you've got the same dishes I have! I believe they're called Corelle "Farm Fresh." My sister gave me an eight-place setting quite a few years ago. Seems like around the mid-90's. Anyway, I still love them and use them!
Oh, I hit it too soon...you know that they aren't what they used to serve (they used to be better), not the stores get 'frosen biscuits' in to bake and serve.
It did not start out being called Popeye's......it was first called "Chicken On The Run".
It was a chicken stand started by Al Copeland, in New Orleans back in 1972.
Al later changed the name to match Gene Hackman's character name in the French Connection. They served wonderful Southern Style Buttermilk Biscuits with there meals.
I'm sure for a biscuit lover these were awesome. I probably should not have tried them knowing that we are not biscuit lovers; however I thought since they were homemade we'd like them better. I hate leaving what sounds like a negative comment. It really isn't negative as far as the recipe goes. It's just our taste buds....so I hope noone takes this comment in the wrong way. They were definitely better than the ones that are served with Popeye's or Bojangle's chicken. 10/28/12
