Hi Lola! I am thrilled you enjoyed my cupcake recipe. You can get espresso powder on Amazon. I can usually find it at my local Albertson's. I also recommend buying coffee extract if you prefer a stronger coffee flavor. You can also find that on Amazon. That will intensify the color, but you can add some brown food coloring gel to get a deeper color. I hope this helps. Thanks for trying my recipe!

Hello Robynne,
I googled my two favorites for a cake and found justapinch and you.
delighted to make this I found the Mexican vanilla but could not find expresso powder, I substituted using expresso coffee.
The cup cakes were perfect, the mousse was perfect , but the butter cream expresso did not come out the color as pictured, however, it tasted good.
I was wondering if you can tell me at what point during the mixing of all the ingredients do you get the tan color? If you can tell me where I went wrong.
I'd like to make these again and will search to find just expresso powder.
