I LOVE Didi's fruit cake recipe & plan to make it often! I used pears & strawberries & almonds, & it was so refreshing & delicious due to the fruity/nutty/whipped cream taste! Love it that we have a choice of any 2 fruits too!TY Didi!
OMGosh this was not only the easiest dessert ever, it was absolutely awesome and did I mention PERFECT for our Easter Dessert!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this dessert. It will be a regular in our house!!
Diane, my tupperware mold set finally arrived..I LOVE it! It was suppose to come with four snap lids (with designs) but I am guessing I got lucky since she sent me five..I love this mold set..thank you so much for giving me the link for this beautiful set found on Ebay..I have to leave her good feedback too, since it is in like new condition!♥
Thank you Diane! I also love the variations that Didi shared with us too..the pineapple and kiwi and nuts sound good too, and also the apple and maraschino cherries and walnuts sound great. I agree, this recipe would be a ten star rating, in my opinion too. I can't wait for it's arrival..good thing the postal is going to be this week. I am thinking of making another pound cake mold with two different fruits, but can't figure which ones yet, but I know they will be good! I also love can whipped cream and may try using a whole can of it in this dessert possibly..lol.
You are welcome Didi! Also, I understood you were busy..I just wanted to let you know that I gave this recipe the three highest ratings! I am the same way..everyone is sleeping, but must be going to bed pretty soon, because it is getting pretty late...I can't wait to get my Tupperware jello mold in the postal..it is suppose to arrive probably Wednesday or Thursday...I think I am going to try making another pound cake mold, but have to try and think what kind of fruits I will be putting in it..lol!
Awwww, sweetheart, thank you so much! I have only been on the PC this late evening when everyone abandoned me, lol and went their own way. Now it's like what early in the morning, everyone is sleeping, the house is quiet, and I CAN'T SLEEP!! I've been catching up on my emails and notifications. If I missed it honey I do apologize, but I thank you so much!!
I also agree, that frozen cherries or mixed frozen fruits would be delicious! I just noticed at the top comment on page two that you mentioned you used apples, cherry's, and walnuts..yum..that does sound delicious..I will have to make that too! The apples and cherry's were they fresh? Have you made this recipe using fresh lemon (not the rind but flesh)? Or anything that contains lemon? I love lemon and have been wondering about blueberry and lemons..guessing the lemon flesh would have to be possibly grinded up into tiny pieces or sweetened or something, but I love anything with lemon in it! ♥
I don't know about "canned fillings" Brenda, because just like you thought I always thought they would be too sweet. I think the frozen cherries would work wonderfully. I've made it with maraschino and apples. ♥
Thank you Didi and also thank you for the information regarding fruit combinations..the pineapple and kiwi fruits sound delicious..I will make that too..love fresh pineapple and kiwi fruits! We have a Loquat tree and Mango tree in our back yard, and these fruits would be delicious in this dessert. The Loquat fruits taste like pink champagne! I will use juices, such as V8 splash brand or similar juices too..but have to have nuts in mine too, so will also add nuts..yum. The apple and walnut sounds delicious..especially dipping the sliced pound cake into a apple juice or cidar..yum. Did you have another type of fruit other than apple? Cherry would be good too. I wonder if marachino cherries would be good or canned pie cherrie's..have you made it with cherries, and if so, what kind did you use? I am not sure if canned pie cherries would be too sweet or not, but frozen would be great I suppose? Thank you Didi! ♥
YAY!!! You're gonna love your Tupperware!! LOL re: your son, my hubby was doing the same thing!
Yes, absolutely Brenda you can use any fruit you like. If you're using say fresh blueberries, I would use a blueberry juice (bottled), strawberries, maybe a v-8splash of some kind...
Does that make sense? I've made strawberry/banana before, and used a strawberry banana juice box. I've made a pineapple, kiwi one too. That was so darn good. Used the juice of the pineapple of course. The last one I made using fresh fruit was an apple walnut. I used apple juice and extra walnuts. Mmmmm that was the bomb!!
Did that help honey? You are so creative, I can't wait to hear all about your combinations.
Didi, does this recipe work as good using other types of fruits? I am curious, since if I use two different types of fruits and they are fresh (not canned) how do we get the juice for soaking the pound cake? But, I love to be creative and try other fruits too..I think one of your video's stated we could, but not sure if I heard it correctly or not. The strawberry and pears and almonds were out of this world delicious, and I will be making it with that combination many more times too, but love to experiment too!
