I know just what you mean Melanie. When I make a recipe that was my grandmother's I am instantly and vividly, transported to that memory. It is wonderful to relive it.

Thanks, Sheila. I tell you, the smell of the shortening and sugar in the scalded mild sure evoked some great memories of her making bread. I wish I had paid more attention when I was younger!

Yes, it was. I will make them bigger next time. The flavor is sooooo good. Sadly, I never learned to make bread from my mom. She is 84 years old and lives far from me.
