Thanks for telling us about the substitution of part of the sugar for brown sugar. I used the dark brown sugar as well. It's good to know that if we don't have enough white sugar that we can "fill in" with brown!
I'll tell you the situation I had. I went to make these and was about 1/4 cup short of white sugar. So I used an extra quarter cup of the brown sugar...dark brown sugar to be exact. They are heavenly and probably one of the best bar cookies I've ever eaten. They need nothing else. Absolutely nothing.
