Your version of Shepherd's pie sounds great. I plan to make it with a few more improvisions: I will replace the green beans with cooked, sliced carrots so my "veggie" layer will have more color. I always have fresh broccoli which I will steam slightly and not use frozen.
As for the meat, I will replace the bacon with some sausage (no casings and crumbled).
