Photos of RICE SOCK-HEATING PAD

I Took Kimi's Recipe & Wanted To Give In A Gift Basket But Didn't Want To Give A Sock. Lol!! So, I Had Bolts Of This Material That Was Given To Me. It Is A Heavy T-shirt Material. I Doubled It & Made A Rice Pack (in The Middle)& 2 Long Grabbers To Hold It Around Neck, Back, Etc. I Used Minute Rice So It Would Heat Faster................lol!! No, Just By Chance, It Held One Sack Of Rice!

Post a picture Sylvia! Mine, I think had just the right amount in it. Ask Kimi! I sent her one. Maybe not!

Ok I have made a Rice Sock heating pad WITH lavender and WITHOUT sock. LOL. I did find that my first filling made it non-flexible, but when I put less rice in the rice all flowed to one end. SO...I made 'baffles' I sewed my tube of heavy woven white cotton scrap. I poured in a little rice - left some space and sewed across the tube. Doing this divided my neck tube into four sections and made it the perfect blend of flexibility and filling. I then encased the entire thing in another tube of white cotton. This was sewed across middle to hold it in place and then tacked at ends of rice. Lastly I sew tie ribbons on end.

I've never seen homemade fabric softener that wasn't just white vinegar! Good to know.

Thanks to needing to find my favorite Chicken Chili Recipe on here (I didn't :-( Can't believe I didn't have it saved to my recipe box!) Anyway - I came across this. It was providential timing. For my husbands family we each bring a gift basket to exchange. THIS year I decided on a 'Homemade happiness' basket. Thanks to a trip to Africa this spring I have raw shea butter, shea butter lotion I made, homemade laundry detergent, homemade dish detergent and now this! I can't believe I forgot! (And I even made myself some before!) I will be sewing up one of these this week!
