Grandpa Cookies (Date Perishky)
- Teresa May
of Ninette, MB
"Grandpa Bergman (Jacob) made this for Christmas. He would start in October making the cookies and filling 4L ice-cream pails with them, usually about 4 or 5 pails. Although they can be eaten right away, like Christmas/Fruit cake, the flavour takes time to fully mature and 'pop' which is why Grandpa started making these in October and wouldn`t let anyone eat them before Christmas."
Toasted Coconut Shortbread Cookie
- Wendy Rusch
of Trego, WI
"First cookie to disappear from your cookie tray!"
Grandma Lu's Vanilla Anisette Christmas Cookies
- Nancy A.
"Growing up in an Italian family, our kitchen was always filled with family, food and fun, but during the holidays, it was simply magical! The kitchen was filled with incredible aromas, and every inch of space was filled with spectacular desserts, but, my favorite cookies were my grandmother's vanilla anisette, which I would help her make every year, and to this day I make her cookies, carry on the traditional and transform my kitchen into that very special magical place I always loved as a child."
- Diane Hughes
of Valdosta, GA
"This recipe makes a lot of big, soft molasses cookies. Everyone at church loves them. The recipe makes plenty. I also make the balls and freeze them to bake later."
