White Beans & Ham Crockpot

Ingredients

1/2 lb
dried white lima beans
1
ham hock
water
7 oz
canned tomatoes, diced
1/2 c
celery, chopped
1/2 c
carrot, chopped
1 c
onions, chopped
1/4 c
dry white wine or vermouth
1 tsp
dark brown sugar
1 tsp
balsamic vinegar
1/4 tsp
black pepper, cracked
1 pinch
allspice, ground
1 pinch
nutmeg, ground
1/8 tsp
cloves, ground

Step-By-Step

1Soak beans in water overnight.
2Drain beans. Place them in a 2 quart Crockpot. Add the ham hock and fill to the top with water. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for four hours.
3Remove the ham hock. Cut the meat off the bone and discard the rest. Return the meat to the pot.
4Add the rest of the ingredients and cook on high for four hours.
