JANET'S RED HOT CABBAGE SLAW

Ingredients

1/4 c butter
1/2 c chopped onions
8 c coarsely shredded red caggage
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp caraway seed
1 tsp salt
1 c sour cream
1/4 c vinegar
1 c orange sections
NOTE; WHEN A RECIPE CALLS FOR
VINEGAR IT IS USELY WHITE UNLESS IT
CALLS FOR CIDER VINEGAR

This slaw is great for that cook out or just about any get together. Make hamburgers and use the slaw for the vegetables on the burger yummy yummy.

Melt butter in skillet saute onion until tender.

Stir in cabbage, lemon juice, caraway seed, and salt. Heat stirring occasionally for 5 minutes.

Cover cook over low heat stirring occasionally for 10 minutes longer or until cabbage is tender.

Combine sour cream and vinegar stir into cabbage.

Add orange sections heat to serving temperature. Yield 6 servings

Janet this is very similar to what my grand mother, mother & aunts use to make....no oranges but they added green onions....sure brought back memories reading this....have a great day!

Similar to one my Grandmother made too......she made a lot of different slaw recipes.

Cin... no matter where we grew up.....I think food is the one thing we all have in common....and we can probably come up with all kinds of similar recipes....isn't that great??????

@Irisa...Grandma was from Louisiana & Grandpa was a Quaker from Indiana.
Now thats quite a range in recipes in an of itself.
