Bing Cherry Salad

My mother made this when I was growing up, but she revised it over the years.

dark bing cherries, drained [save liquid]
#2 1/2 can(s)
crushed pineapple, drained [save liquid]
2 pkg
cherry geletin, lg. package
2 can(s)
2 c
fruit juices [drained from cherries and pineapple]
2 pkg
philadelphia cream cheese, regular or low-fat
1 c
chopped pecans or walnuts. [leave out nuts if you have allergies.]

Directions Step-By-Step

Heat juices that were drained from pineapple and cherries.
Pour over gelatin. Stir well and then let it cool a few minutes.
Add Coca-Cola and chill in refrigerator until partially jelled.
Add cherries, pineapple, nuts [if desired], and cream cheese [crumbled into small chunks] or whipped cream.
Chill in refrigerator until firm. You may put it in a mold if you wish.

    Wow! Very rich & flavorful! I used sugar free Jello & Diet Coke..Worked just as well. Recipe in my opinion calls for too much cream cheese... I cut it back by about 25%.. Otherwise, very good salad...could almost serve as a dessert!! I plan to make this again...

    Well, the reason I went low-sugar is because I'm diabetic. Using the Diet Coke & Sugar Free Jello worked out just fine! I also put in a few handsfull of mini marshmallows...It was nice & sweet but not enough sugar to hurt me...
