1 1/2 beef,cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablesspoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef stock
2 cups brown ale
1 cup water
1 onion,sliced
2 carrots,sliced
1 leek,sliced
2 celery stalks,sliced
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 turnip,cubed

HEAT OIL IN BIG SKILLET OVER MED-HIGH HEAT. COOK MEAT UNTIL BROWNED ON ALL SIDES.LOWER HEAT AND ADD FLOUR TO SKILLET. COOK 2 MIN, STIRRING FREQUENTLY. GRADUALLY ADD STOCK,ALE,AND WATER;BRING TO A BOIL. TRANSFER MIXTURE TO CROCK-POT SLOW COOKER.ADD REMAINING INGREDIENTS.COVER AND COOK ON LOW 8 TO 10 HOURS OR ON HIGH 4 TO 6 HOURS.
