Ingredients

1 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
4 pork chops 1 inch thick
1 Tbsp canola oil
4 orange slices
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1 c hot water
1/4 c orange juice
2 Tbsp bourbon
1/4 c raisins

Directions

Combine flour, salt and pepper; dredge pork chops in flour mixture.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; brown chops on both sides.

Place an orange slice on top of each chop.

Combine brown sugar, cornstarch and allspice in a small saucepan, gradually stir in water.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

Remove from heat; stir in orange juice, bourbon and raisins.

Cover and reduce heat, simmer 1 hour.

A bit confusing? Do you pour the sauce over the pork chops, then cover, reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour? An hour seems like a very long time to cook the pork chops.

What I saw when I read the instructions is, brown your pork chops, as instructed with the dredging of flour, combine all the other ingredients in a sauce pan, pour over the pork chops, with an orange slice, cover and cook for an hour or until your chops are done, it would have to be cooked very slow and it all depends on the thickness of your pork chops as to cooking time, a judgment call I'd say. I have cooked chops this way using cream of mushroom soup and it is also very delicious. Thank you ladies, it's been a pleasure. Hugs to all you great cooks out there, just love all you ladies.
