Pattycake's Shrimp Gravy for shrimp and grits

This is my adaptation of a recipe that we used to make when I worked at a Famous Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina.

Ingredients

1 1/2 c
small, peeled and deveined raw shrimp
3 Tbsp
chopped onion
3 Tbsp
chopped bell pepper
4 Tbsp
bacon grease
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp
seafood seasoning
1 tsp
worcestershite sauce
2 Tbsp
ketchup
2 Tbsp
cornstarch

Step-By-Step

1In skillet, fry onions and peppers in bacon grease. When onion is golden, add shirmp and stir around several times.

2Add about 3/4 cup of water. Simmer 2-3 minutes and thicken with the cornstarch and a little water made into a paste.

3Add seasonings, Worcestershite sauce and ketchup. Cook slowly til thickened.
Serve over creamy grits.
