A reminder of great food for any time of year. Love this recipe of old passed on many years ago and is an all time family favorite still today...

My son in law especially loves this recipe and I try to prepare a large pot at every visit or special occasion whether its a birthday party, ball game or just plain getting together time.

A great favorite in our home~

1mix flour, egg, milk and salt until it become doughlike in substance, place on floured surface and roll with wooden rolling pin to about 1/4" thickness. Cut into long strips lengthwise, then cut diagnally to resemeble diamond like shapes. my little one likes to create a few homemade ones at the same time.... allow to stand 2-3 hours, turing halfway through the drying process.

2While dough is drying a bit, place whole chicken in large pot of water with 6-8 cups of water. cook and cut up completely, reserve 4 cups of the chicken stock for dumplings.
Set meat aside and bring stock to a rolling boil, add cream of mushroom soup

Step 3 Direction Photo

3While this is boiling, place a few dumplings at a time in the water. allow to sit on medium heat for at least 30 minutes, add chicken to the pot and cover, simmer for 20-30 minutes. Dumplings will rise and then plump to perfection.

4* Tip: serve over prepared mashed potatoes with a side salad and cranberry jelled
