It is a "TWICE COOKED CHICKEN DINNER" with creamy mashed potatoes and a veggie.
From the 50 & 60s. when the family was all together.
Along with delicious chicken drippings for milk gravy, then green beans, laced with bacon grease! ..YUM!
OH! Be still my heart!
This chicken is browned on top of the stove, then cooked in a
slow-cooker to perfection!
This special recipe is well worth the extra steps.

You will think you died & went to heaven.
- 2-1/2 to 3 lb
- fryer...cut into serving siz pieces
- 1-1/2 c
- 1 tsp
- celery salt
- 1/2 tsp
- black pepper
- 1/2 tsp
- garlic powder
- 1-1/2 tsp
- paprika, sweet mild
- 2 tsp
- parsley flakes
- salt & pepper to taste
- green beans, your amount
- mashed potatoes
- make gravy...see recipe
Cover with fresh water.
Add 2-tablespoons of salt. Mix.
Cover bowl and put in the refrigerator,overnight.
Some people say the flavor is enhanced.
I agree agree with them.
Others cover with vinegar & water, or just milk.
Then pat dry, and lay out on a plate, to help dry for the next step.
In a plastic bag, mix flour and spices together.
Throw in the chicken pieces.
get ready to fry brown only..
Heat butter and a little oil on medium-high heat,
till golden brown.
adding wings first, and no liquid!
Cover and cook on low setting for 7 hours.
cover with foil to keep warm.
While you make the gravy.
of the crock-pot and put in a skillet...
sprinkle with parsley, paprika, salt and pepper,
To your taste.
If you want a little more gravy
Just add some chicken broth.
Not to much,
you don't want to dilute the great juice flavor!
