Eddie's Notes:

This is one of my absolute favorite steaks. This steak is packed with plenty of goodness. This is the steak I like to fix for the 4th of July.

Directions

1
Rinse the steaks and pat dry. In a small bowl combine all of the steak rub ingredients. Rub on both sides of steaks. Set aside for 45 minutes or refrigerate for up to 90 minutes.
2
Be sure to allow time for the steak to warm up before grilling. ( Remove from refrigerator 45 minutes before placing them on the grill.)
3
BASTING SAUCE:
4
Combine all the basting sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
5
Prepare your grill for medium high heat. Place the steaks over the hottest part of the grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, then move to a less hot part of the grill and continue cooking foe 4 to 5 minutes per side. Baste with sauce.
6
Let the steaks rest, covered for 5 minutes before cutting. Serve with extra sauce on the side.
7
NOTE: Spanish rice makes a great side dish for this steak.

This sounds good Eddie. I happened to take elk back strap out for dinner tonight and this sound like a different taste that we might like.
I will have to use some olive oil to keep my steaks from drying out to fast. Off to find a recipe for spanish rice.

The Basting sauce Sounds good Eddie, Not so sure about the Brn sugar in the Rub, That would make for a sweeter taste to the Steak, I am not to into a Sweet Taste in my Steaks, But will try the basting sauce. that does sound good.
Thanks

This is a fantastic sauce for steaks, if you like a sauce on your steaks.
I did use venison instead of beef, but it was still wonderful. My husband had seconds and double dipped on the extra sauce.
I did add additional brown sugar to the sauce as I thought the vinegar may have been a little strong for our taste. I will be making this again!
