I came across this recipe on another site, it struck me that with some tweeks it would be a winner.... and voila it was! My husband after one plate said, "honey this is a keeper, I hope you remember what you did". I went to the counter and wrote down what I did, and here it is. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did, 2 platefuls later.
long grain rice, uncooked
wild rice, uncooked
cream of mushroom soup, reduced sodium
water chestnuts, sliced
mushroom pieces with liquid
green pepper, chopped
1Cook rice according to package directions. Brown ground beef, add onion, green pepper, celery and garlic. Cook until onions are translucent. When rice is done cooking place all ingredients in a large covered casserole, mix together.
2Bake 45 minutes covered at 350 degrees.
Let stand covered for additional 10 minutes.
Do not add any additional salt.
