This is a staple of the Hoosier State. This particular recipe is as close to the local Brand Name Wicks, as I have found.

Ingredients For sugar cream pie

  • 3/4 c
    sugar or splenda
  • 2 c
    half and half
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    cornstarch
  • 1
    prebaked pie crust
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 pinch
    nutmeg
  • 2
    pats of butter

How To Make sugar cream pie

  • 1
    Mix first four ingredients in a sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened.

    Removed from heat and stir in vanilla.

    Pour into prebaked pie crust.
  • 4
    cut pats of butter in half and put on top of filling. Can sprinkle with nutmeg if you desire.

    Melt butter And allow top of pie to bubble slightly under broiler.

    Cool and serve. Refrigerate leftovers
