Homemade Hobo Poptarts

Amy Alusa

Pop Tarts are a popular snack...you might want to give this a shot at your house, and see if you like them. The advantage being, much cheaper, and you know what's going into them. The recipe suggests store-bought pie dough. I guess, if you want to...but making it yourself tastes better, and is cheaper. Once again, you know what's in it. Make up a large batch and freeze them. They'll come in handy!

pinch tips: Perfect Bacon Every Time

Depends on the size you choose to make them!

15 Min

5 Min

1 pkg
store bought pie crust
jelly of your choice

Directions Step-By-Step

Roll the dough out flat on a cookie sheet and score it with a knife into rectangles. Bake until almost done (as directed on the packaging). Spread with jelly or preserves. Bake three more minutes. Put two of the rectangles together to make a homemade toaster pastry.
Note: We like to do some variations: Cream cheese with a strawberry glaze on top, or peanut butter with a chocolate glaze on top, or apple pie filling (put it in the food processor so the apples are tiny bits) and a vanilla cinnamon glaze on top....lots of other variations you can dream up!
